A cold placeby ~Exphrasis

I've been willing to try doing a mattepainting for a while now, but I never really had the time, a proper subject or enought feedback on something to really allow myself to try pushing myself a bit and do something enough realistic.
A couple of weeks ago, a challenge has been proposed at my school, the goal was to make a matte painting, starting from this base composition : [link]

The theme was ' hell gate ' , so I decided to make something a bit different, and not just a basic door with normal lava, red everywhere and stuff.

The final result is 6048 x 2576 px, and was done over a couple of weeks.

I still have a lot to learn ! haha.
